Onyx Media Studio embarked on a visual exploration of a forgotten and abandoned village in Romania, documenting a place where time appears to have stood still. Through photography, we captured the quiet decay, the lingering presence of history, and the emotional weight carried by spaces left behind.
The project focused on abandoned houses, each telling its own silent story through worn walls, broken windows, and traces of past lives. At the heart of the village, a forgotten church stood as a powerful symbol of faith, community, and abandonment — a structure once central to village life, now left to silence and memory.
Among the most striking elements of this visual journey were two abandoned horses, still present in a place long forgotten by people. Photographed both in color and black & white, they became a symbol of resilience, solitude, and the fragile connection between life and abandonment. The use of black & white imagery emphasizes texture, contrast, and emotion, while color photography preserves the raw authenticity of the environment.
This project reflects Onyx Media Studio’s commitment to storytelling through imagery — capturing not only what is seen, but what is felt. By blending documentary photography with artistic interpretation, we aim to preserve stories that might otherwise fade into obscurity.
Every abandoned place has a story. Our role is to ensure it is seen, felt, and remembered.
